Wine Women & Shoes
Voices for Children’s ninth annual Wine Women & Shoes went virtual!
Voices for Children held its 9th annual Wine Women & Shoes event on May 1 – 3 in a virtual format. The event was led by returning co-chairs Patricia Brutten and Marina Marrelli, who set the tone for the fundraiser in a welcome video where they shared, “Though we may not be able to gather in one place for this event, the pandemic cannot stop us from lifting up these youth. Children in foster care need a caring adult more than ever.” Throughout the weekend, Voices for Children staff hosted Facebook Live videos, where they were joined by current Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) volunteers who shared about their experiences supporting youth. Community members tuned in to hear about the organization’s CASA program, ways to support the event, and for auction updates from auctioneer Clint Bell. Through the silent auction, live auction, marketplace shopping, Fund-A-CASA donations, and a generous $100,000 match from the Brutten Family Foundation, the event raised more than $250,000, which will help to provide one-on-one advocacy to San Diego County foster children.
