What is a Mentor?
A mentor is a trusted counselor or guide; someone who tutors or coaches another. Big Brothers Big Sisters is an example of a mentoring program.
What is an Advocate?
An advocate is someone who pleads the cause of another; specifically, someone who pleads the cause of another before a tribunal or judicial court. An advocate defends or maintains a cause, and supports or promotes the interest of another. Voices for Children’s CASA Program includes mentoring but focuses primarily on advocacy to ensure the needs of San Diego County’s foster youth are met.
