Riverside County CASA of the Month – November 2022

November 23, 2022 by Voices for Children

Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) volunteer Tami has made a tremendous impact since joining Voices for Children (VFC) in 2020. For the last year, CASA Tami has been working with Lidia* and has advocated for the girl in so many ways. She ensured Lidia received new prescription glasses, was placed in appropriate classes at school, and continued regular visits with her biological sister. Despite challenges in the case, CASA Tami is always professional, dependable, and accessible.

CASA Tami made such a positive impression on her first case that the social worker asked if she could join another one of his cases. So with approval from VFC, CASA Tami also became Noah’s* CASA. In the past two months, she has been busy visiting Noah and learning all she can about the case to identify the best ways to support him. We are glad Lidia and Noah have this amazing champion in their corner!

Volunteer: Tami S.

County: Riverside

Became a CASA: 2020

Favorite part of being a CASA: My favorite thing about being a CASA is giving a voice to a child in need — learning their needs and desires and speaking up on their behalf when and where they are unable to do so.

You, too, can make a difference in the life of youth in foster care. Learn more about becoming a CASA volunteer.
