Chicano Park Museum and Cultural Center

The Chicano Park Museum and Cultural Center is open for everyone to enjoy. It is a space where people can communicate openly, create diverse relationships, and take pride in their communities. Old Town San Diego is a complex that includes museums, restaurants, a state historic park, and often offers festivals such as the Dia de los Muertos Festival and Fiesta Old Town Cinco de Mayo. Balboa Park International Houses

The House of Pacific Relations (HPR), located in San Diego's Balboa Park, is a consortium of 'houses' representing 32 countries. The HPR promotes multicultural goodwill and understanding through educational and cultural programs. The park contains historic 1935 Exposition cottages, plus four new cottages, where HPR member countries can offer visitors a window to their culture, history, and traditions. WorldBeat Cultural Center

The WorldBeat Center is a nonprofit multi-cultural arts organization dedicated to promoting, preserving, and celebrating the African Diaspora and Indigenous cultures of the world. Through consciousness raising, the center strives to promote peace within the San Diego community by providing ongoing programs. Chicano Park Day

This free community event includes food, music, speakers, arts & crafts, kids art workshops, info booths, and more than 325 classic lowrider cars and bikes throughout the park. Dia de Los Muertos Old Town

The Day of the Dead is a holiday honoring one’s ancestors traditionally celebrated on November 1 and 2. It is widely observed in Mexico, where it largely developed, and is also observed in other places, especially by people of Mexican heritage. San Diego Latino Film Festival

The San Diego Latino Film Festival is an 11-day celebration of Latino cinema, arts, and culture. The festival will present more than 160 films from Latin America, the United States, and Spain. Click here for more information.

Latino Book and Family Festival

This book fair located in Oceanside also highlights bilingual activities and workshops, with more than 100 exhibitors, music, dancing, art, and more. Click here for more information.

Fiestas Patrias Festival Escondido

A Hispanic heritage festival held yearly in Escondido, the Fiestas Patrias Festival is a full day of music, dance, arts, food, and fun. Click here for more information.

National City Mariachi Festival

An outstanding family event that’s also a festive community celebration, the annual Mariachi Festival, usually held in March in bayside Pepper Park, celebrates San Diego’s Mexican heritage through mariachi music, traditional ballet folklorico dancing, and a celebration of arts, culture, and culinary delights. The event helps support today’s youth in their artistic, individual, and educational development. Click here for more information.

UCSD Cesar Chavez Day Festival

Festival events are open to all and bring awareness to the Chicanx/Latinx culture and civil rights, This year's theme is "Recordando y Progresando Raíces: Remembering and Progressing our Roots." Click here for more information.

Latin Heritage Month Celebrations at San Diego Library Branches

Ongoing celebrations taking place in September and October at various library branches across San Diego County. San Diego Public Library celebrates and recognizes the rich heritage, history, cultures, resiliency, and contributions of our Latinx, Latine, Latino-identified, and Hispanic communities. The libraries celebrate with an array of programs for all ages and recommended reading and listening lists from our English and Spanish collections. Barnes Tennis Center Hispanic Heritage Month Cultural Event

Breaking of the Chains Monument

It was created by Melvin Edwards in 1995 as a testament to African Americans’ bravery on their path toward civil rights. This is found next to the Martin Luther King, Jr. Promenade, along with other outdoor sculptures and works of art nearby. To read more about the monument, click here.

This 0.6-mile long walkway is lined with 30 plaques engraved with his famous words. You’ll find additional works of art and outdoor sculptures all along the path. Now in its 30th year, San Diego’s Kuumba Festival is the longest running celebration of Black art, culture, and heritage west of the Mississippi. This three-day festival occurs annually in February. To learn more, click here.

Online and in-person classes, concerts, and events. WorldBeat Cultural Center serves the community as a non-profit community center, performing arts center for classes and showcasing, museum, gift shop, and outdoor classroom. San Diego Arab Film Festival

The San Diego Arab Film Festival (SDAFF) is a project of KARAMA, a local non-profit that promotes understanding of the issues of the Arab and Islamic world and of the Palestinian issue in particular. In 2012, its inaugural year, the Festival screened three feature films and five short films from six countries. AMC Sensory Friendly Films

For family-friendly audiences, the AMC Sensory Friendly program is available on the second and fourth Saturdays each month. For mature audiences, a movie is available each month on every second and fourth Tuesday evening. Each sensory friendly showing turns the sound down and the lights up to allow all guests to get up, shout, dance, or sing! Families will also be allowed to bring their own snacks from home. California Hands & Voices CARES CRPC

California Hands & Voices’ CPRC, CARES (Community, Advocacy, Resources, Empowerment Support), is dedicated to empowering families with children and young adults with disabilities in a respectful and non-judgmental manner.  Its goal is to build the capacity of families and people with disabilities from birth to age 26 to help them navigate the special education and other service systems. The program is parent-driven and provides families with the resources, networks, and information to prepare them for the challenges of raising a child with disabilities. Its outreach activities, parent/professional collaboration, and advocacy efforts are focused on enabling children and young adults to be effective self-advocates prepared to lead productive, independent adult lives to the maximum extent possible. The CARES CPRC program serves San Diego and Imperial Counties.
