Inspiring CASAs: Carolina Finch, 2020 CASA of the Year

October 16, 2020 by Olivia Chavez

Today, Voices for Children has more than 1,400 active volunteers serving children in foster care throughout San Diego and Riverside Counties. Although we constantly hear from our volunteers that being a CASA is incredibly rewarding, there are many avenues through which we like honor and recognize our volunteers’ dedication.

One of these ways is through our CASA of the Year award. This award honors one CASA who has displayed exceptional advocacy and made a significant difference for the children with whom they are matched. At this year’s Starry Starry Night virtual gala, we were proud to announce the 2020 CASA of the Year: Carolina Finch.

Carolina has served as a CASA for more than 20 years and has advocated on behalf of 21 children during that time. She has readily taken on several very challenging cases, including large sibling groups. Carolina builds strong relationships with the professionals on her cases, the families of the children she serves, and, most importantly, the children themselves. She is admired, respected, trusted, and loved.

We spoke with some of Carolina’s former case children and their families, and here’s what they had to say about her.

Learn how you can become a CASA volunteer in San Diego or Riverside Counties by signing up for an online Volunteer Information Session.
