Spectrum Joins Mayor Kathleen Kelly To Award $1,000 to Voices for Children

July 6, 2023 by Voices for Children

Grateful is an understatement! Besides all the amazing work our CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) volunteers do daily, we are lucky when we receive additional support that helps us with our vital work in service to youth living in foster care. CASA and Spectrum Residential Connectivity Sales Specialist Anna Frost graciously nominated Voices for Children for a second time, $1,000 grant through the company’s national community philanthropic program, Spectrum Employee Community Grants.

Spectrum’s Employee Community Grants are one of the many ways Spectrum supports their employees who are already making an impact in their communities. Grant recipient organizations are nonprofits nominated by an employee who has a personal connection to that organization through volunteer efforts for at least one year.

The check presentation took place at a Spectrum office in Palm Desert on May 10, joined by Anna Frost, Advocacy Supervisor Paloma Quiroz, Spectrum executives, Sandra Cuellar, Pam Collazo, and Palm Desert Mayor Kathleen Kelly.

L-R: Sandra Cuellar, Spectrum Director Government Affairs; Paloma Quiroz, Voices for Children Advocacy Supervisor; Palm Desert Mayor Kathleen Kelly, Spectrum Reach Ad Sales Account Executive; and Pam Collazo, Spectrum Sr. Manager Communications.

“I want to extend my congratulations to Anna and the Voices for Children team on receiving the Spectrum Employee Community Grant,” said Mayor Kathleen Kelly. “Their dedication to improving the welfare of foster children in our community is truly commendable. By advocating for those who are most vulnerable, Voices for Children has made a significant impact in the lives of many.”

Spectrum Employee Community Grants has provided funding to nearly 400 local nonprofits in 32 states throughout the company’s service area since its inception in July 2019. As of February 2023, the program had distributed more than $1.5 million, to nearly 400 organizations across 32 states.

“I am humbled to work with an organization that serves foster youth,” said Anna Frost. “They are often an overlooked group, and I’ve found them to be funny, bright, strong and resilient. I have cherished my time with the children and have gotten to work with their team of social workers, attorneys and teachers. It’s my pleasure to share this opportunity with as many as I can in our community and recruit more volunteers to this organization.”

Thank you, Spectrum, for your continued support of our community’s vulnerable children living in foster care!
